You know how frustrating it can be when sudden and unexpected expenses arise and drain your family’s savings account — things like car repairs, medical bills, and breakdowns of your home’s vital appliances or systems. While we can’t help you with the first two items on that list, we can provide you with affordable home warranty plans that can protect your family’s budget when a sudden issue arises with your heating and cooling systems, water heater, plumbing, or even for your water or sewer service lines.

As every homeowner knows, it’s a matter of “when” not “if” you’ll experience such a breakdown. If you aren’t enrolled in a home protection plan, it could be up to you to foot the entire bill for the necessary repairs. Repair costs for these things can vary depending on what the issue is, how serious it is, and whether you need an emergency/weekend repair.

But if you planned ahead and enrolled in a home warranty plan, and then a covered issue arises, all you need to do is pick up the phone and make a call. We will find a local service provider to help diagnose and treat the problem within 24 hours of your call.

So, what are the most important things to look for when enrolling in a home warranty plan? We’ve put together a list to help you!

Know what items you want to cover

What appliances or lines in your home do you want to protect? Of course, you want to be sure they’re all protected, but you may already have manufacturer’s warranties or coverage like renter's or homeowner's insurance for one or more items. In that situation, you may only need a home protection plan for what’s left — like your plumbing, interior electric lines, and water/sewer service lines.

At American Water Resources, our Customer Care representatives can help you determine the best plan(s) for your needs.

Most home warranty plans do not cover pre-existing conditions

If you think you can enroll in a warranty plan for an item that just broke down, you’re going to be out of luck. Our home protection plans don’t cover pre-existing problems — including that those that occur prior to your coverage’s Effective Date, which is usually 30 days after your enrollment has been processed. That’s why it’s important to enroll in a plan now — before you need it!

Filing a claim

It starts with just a phone call. When you have a covered problem, contact our Customer Care team. They will ask you some questions and help get your claim started. Pretty soon, you’ll have an appointment scheduled with one of our network professionals, and you’ll be on your way to having life get back to what it should be.

Ready to enroll in an American Water Resources warranty plan?

For two decades, we’ve helped homeowners just like you protect their vital appliances, plumbing, and service lines against unexpected repair costs. We currently manage over 1.9 million service contracts — including water line, sewer line, in-home plumbing, and interior electric line — across the country for homeowners, utilities, and municipal customers. We work with a network of trusted, skilled, and knowledgeable service providers who will help get your home back to normal again as soon as possible.

Even better, we’re available 24/7 to take your call! When you’re enrolled in one of our protection plans and a covered problem pops up, give us a call at 855-800-5195 and we will take care of the legwork of finding a service provider in your area to help you.
