AWR provides protection from the unexpected. We offer programs to cover the big repairs that your homeowner's policy typically doesn't cover. Since the year 2000, we have grown to provide protection for over 1 million homeowners. American Water Resources is an independent third-party provider of optional home protection programs. American Water Resources is a trademark of American Water and used under license. AWR's optional programs are not provided by American Water or its affiliates.

This valuable program that protects you from the hassle and cost of unexpected water heater failure. If your water heater fails due to normal wear and tear, AWR will cover the cost. The Water Heater Repair and Replacement program is an affordable way to get protection from the unexpected. See a complete list of covered repairs and view our terms & conditions.

If you love hot showers or clean laundry, then you need to protect your water heater, because standard homeowner's insurance typically doesn't. Normal wear and tear like corrosion and mineral deposit buildup can cause your water heater to fail. And if that happens, you don't want to be stuck without those daily comforts or an expensive repair or replacement, let alone the hassle of finding a quality contractor.

Standard homeowner's insurance typically doesn't cover water heater repairs, so it may be up to you to find a contractor and pay for the repair or replacement

We protect residential electric, natural gas, and propane fueled water heaters, no matter the age of the unit. Water heaters fueled by oil, solar, or geothermal energy are not eligible. In addition, tankless water heaters, water heaters larger than 50 gallons or intended for use in commercial properties, and combination heating/domestic hot water units are not eligible. Water heaters that are designed to be attached directly to the wall or placed on a platform that is attached to a wall are not eligible for this program. If your home has more than one Water Heater, each Water Heater must be enrolled in a separate program in order to be eligible for a repair or replacement under this program.

We only use reputable brands commonly found in homes across the U.S. We also use only new units for replacements. A used or refurbished unit isn't good enough for you, so it's not good enough for us either. We always use local, insured, independent contractors to make sure the installation job is done right.

You can pay monthly or annually with convenient options like credit card (VISA, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover), check or debit card.

The Protection Program is for a 12-month term that will automatically renew on an annual basis if you are paying annually by credit card or on a monthly basis. You can cancel at any time.

Your enrollment begins the day AWR processes your Enrollment, which is the Enrollment Date on your welcome letter. Your protection and ability to make a claim begins 30 days after the Enrollment Date.
