A. It’s a spike in voltage. They’re brief (as in a millionth of a second) and can vary in magnitude from a few hundred to several thousand volts. Usually externally-generated power surges are the result of lightning or electric utility equipment failures (power being brought online after an outage, transformer damage, substation switching activity, downed wires, car accidents involving utility poles). They’re unpredictable, but not un-protectable. Get protection from AWR and put power surges out of your mind.

A. It’s a program that helps prevent power surge damage with a state-of-the-art surge-blocking device that’s installed to your home’s electrical meter. It blocks power surges, protecting your electronics, appliances, and systems– 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. If on the off chance the device doesn’t do its job, you’ll be covered from surge damage up to $5,000 per item and up to $50,000 per occurrence. With the program, a local, qualified electrician will handle the FREE installation.

A. The real benefit of this program is its prevention of the disaster in the first place. The surge-blocking device does just that – blocks surges – keeping your belongings safe. But if the device ever fails to prevent surge-related damage, your electronics, appliances, and systems are protected by AWR. Up to $50,000 per occurrence ($5,000 per item), which sure is better than paying out-of-pocket. One millionth of a second – the length of a power surge – could wipe out your appliances, and it’s nice to know that you’d be covered if one occurs.

A. Just $9.99 a month helps prevent power surge damage. But if the Surge Arrester fails, you’d still be covered up to $50,000 per occurrence ($5,000 per item). That’s a lot of protection for a small amount.

A. Just complete this simple enrollment form. Or you can call us at 1-877-513-8520.

A. We’ll send a qualified, local electrical contractor to handle your device installation. They’ll contact you to set up an appointment, likely within two weeks of your enrollment. The actual installation takes less than 30 minutes and just like that, you’re covered.

A. The surge-blocking device is connected directly to your home’s electric meter by a local, licensed electrician. This device is designed to prevent power surges from entering your home, allowing you to confidently use your current electrical plugs and outlets. Once the contractor arrives, the installation process should take no longer than 30 minutes in most cases. In addition to the device installation itself, the contractor will also conduct a free outdoor grounding electrical inspection, and complete any necessary electrical grounding repairs prior to installing the surge-blocking device.

A. Minimum: 15 years. If the device ever quits working or outlives its useful life, we’ll replace it. For free, of course.

A. We’ll hire a fully qualified, professional electrical contractor to do the job.

A. There is no installation fee.

A. As soon as the surge-blocking device is in action. Installation usually happens 1-2 weeks after enrollment.

A. If you’re serious about blocking surges, then yes. Our state-of-the-art surge-blocking device can handle surges up to 100 times greater than a plug-in strip. Plus, those plug-ins don’t usually protect major motor-driven appliances, and most don’t come with warranty protection. The surge device also extends the life of your electronics through blocking micro surges, small surges that occur over time.

A. It doesn’t. Nothing can protect against a direct lightning strike. However about 95% of lightning-related damage is from indirect lightning strikes, and those surges are prevented by our surge-blocking device.

A. It has 2 little red LED lights on the outside. If they’re both on, the device is working. If not, the device needs to be replaced. Call 1-855-705-8438 if the lights are out.

A. As long as the device is installed, the warranty is valid. If the device ever fails, we’ll replace it for free.

A. You may want to contact your homeowners insurance to ask.

A. Surges beyond the device’s capability (40,000 amps per phase), sustained over-voltages, open-neutrals, voltage sags (brownouts) and momentary power outages. Additionally, the device is designed to block power surges coming from the incoming electrical service lines, which is the most common source, but surges can also enter the home through other means such as via phone lines, cable lines and even plumbing pipes and these events are not covered. In terms of warranty coverage, networked home theater systems, medical or life-saving equipment, well pumps, pool pumps, items in detached buildings, sprinkler systems, electrical fences, and computer data recovery expenses are not covered.
