Gas Line Protection Program

Interior gas line leaks are inconvenient at best, dangerous at worst.

Critical natural gas lines run to your appliances inside your home, and unexpected failures to these lines are typically not covered by standard homeowners’ insurance.  Over time, normal wear and tear or defects in workmanship and/or materials may cause leaks to these lines. Once the utility has safely turned off your natural gas, it may be your responsibility to repair the leaking lines.

What's Covered

  1. Interior natural gas lines
  2. Connectors to gas appliances
  3. Gas line shutoff valves to gas appliances
  4. Annual safety inspection

A. It’s a program that provides peace of mind from unexpected interior gas line repairs and is economical to fit within your budget. The program provides up to $2,500 per occurrence for repairs of leaks in the interior natural gas pipes running through your house as well as the flexible connectors and shut off valves at each gas appliance due to normal wear or defects in workmanship or materials. There are absolutely no service fees, and no 30-day waiting period! As always, AWR will only dispatch pre-qualified licensed and insured contractors to complete your interior gas line repairs. This will ensure quality service and workmanship and allows you to avoid the hassle of finding a qualified contractor on your own.

A. Over time, normal wear and tear or defects in workmanship and/or materials may cause leaks to the natural gas lines that run to your appliances. The utility company can turn off the gas lines, but you will still be responsible for making repairs to the lines. Repairing these natural gas lines can be complicated and expensive to fix, often requiring the attention of a local, qualified contractor after the utility has turned off the gas.

A. Standard homeowner’s insurance typically doesn’t cover repairs to interior gas lines needed as a result of normal wear or defect in workmanship or materials, so the repairs may be your responsibility.

A. If you think you have a gas leak or smell gas it is very important to vacate your home immediately and call your local gas utility or 911 from a safe distance outside your home. A rotten-egg smell may indicate a gas leak. Whether the odor is inside or outside, do not use anything that could cause a spark, including cell phones, flashlights, lights, appliances, matches and candles. If a leak is detected, the gas company will shut off your service and “red tag” the affected appliance and/or line. Red tag means that the gas furnace or other gas appliances are not operating safely and therefore the gas company will turn off the appliance and/or line and mark it with a red tag. The tag serves as a warning that an appliance is unsafe and could cause injury, property damage or even death. After the gas company shuts off your service, call AWR at 1-855-705-8438 immediately, no matter what time of day or night. AWR will dispatch a local, licensed contractor to make the necessary repairs. After AWR completes the repair, the gas company will be contacted to inspect the work completed, remove the red tag, and restore your gas service.

A. The Protection Program is for a 12-month term that will automatically renew on an annual basis if you are paying annually by credit card or on a monthly basis. You can cancel at any time.
