Why This PlanFAQsCustomer ReviewsRelated Guides

Why this plan?

Things like old age and tree roots can lead to ruptured water lines that can leave water pooling in your yard or cause you to experience low water pressure in your home. Fixing this usually means digging, finding the break, and getting it repaired, all while your water is shut off. With our Water Line Unlimited Protection Program, you’ll be covered from:

  • Low water pressure

  • Hissing or bubbling sounds coming from the pipes

  • Discolored water

  • Pooling water outside

Unexpected repairs can be both daunting and costly. Our Water Line Unlimited Protection Program protects you from these unexpected costs. See above for what we cover.

Frequently asked questions

AWR provides protection from the unexpected. We offer programs to cover the big repairs that your homeowner's policy typically doesn't cover. Since the year 2000, we have grown to provide protection for over 1 million homeowners. American Water Resources is an independent third-party provider of optional home protection programs. American Water Resources is a trademark of American Water and used under license. AWR's optional programs are not provided by American Water or its affiliates.

The Water Line Protection Program provides repairs to leaks and breaks of a covered water line caused by normal wear and tear. AWR takes care of the costs of permits required to excavate and complete covered repairs; as well as refilling, raking/leveling and seeding of excavated portion of customer's property.

Because water lines are an integral part of your home, and they can be prone to problems. Your homeowners insurance typically doesn't cover them, meaning you're responsible if there's a problem. The Water Line Protection Program from AWRIS protects you from those costly repair bills and takes away the hassle of dealing with them.

Individual policies vary, but standard homeowners' insurance policies typically do NOT cover repair or replacement of sewer lateral.

You can sign up and pay monthly or annually with convenient options like credit card (VISA and MasterCard).

Just complete the enrollment form online or call us at 1-855-800-5195.

If your lawn suddenly has puddles or water features you never asked for, you may have a water line problem. Or you may experience low water pressure, or even no water flowing at all. Don't be the person who loses control in this situation. Be the person who calls AWRIS

When you have a covered problem, call us at 1-855-800-5195; do NOT call your own plumbing contractor. American Water Resources is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to take your call.

The Water Line Protection Program is available for owners of 1-4 unit residential properties with a water service line of no more than 2 inches in diameter. Water service lines and/or sewer laterals shared with neighboring properties are eligible for coverage; however, AWRIS will not cover any section of a shared water service line or sewer lateral that serves only a neighboring property not enrolled in the program.

The Protection Program is for a 12-month term that will automatically renew on an annual basis if you are paying annually by credit card or on a monthly basis. You can cancel at any time.

You can find coverage information outlined in the Terms & Conditions linked above the program name on this page.

Your enrollment begins the day AWR processes your Enrollment, which is the Enrollment Date on your welcome letter. Your protection and ability to make a claim begins 30 days after the Enrollment Date.

The Water Line Protection Program has no limit on the amount that we will pay for covered repairs. This program provides coverage for one of our independent contractors to repair leaks or breaks to your outside water line caused by normal wear and usage, defects in materials or freezing. We will also repair defects to your outside water line that are the subject of a Notice of Defect issued by the Philadelphia Water Department anytime on or after the 30th day of your enrollment date. If our independent contractor excavates areas outside your home to access your water line, they will refill, rake and reseed the unpaved area once per occurrence. Opening any portion of your home’s foundation to access your water line is at your expense but we will reseal and repair any such opening once per occurrence. Excavated brick, standard concrete or asphalt private walkways or driveways will be restored with like material once per occurrence, and other excavated private paved surfaces will be restored with an asphalt patch once per occurrence. Excavated portions of public roads, sidewalks, curbing, and driveway aprons will be restored in accordance with local or state rules and regulations once per occurrence.
